At AMAL POS, we believe your retail data belongs to you. Here is how we ensure your business information is kept safe, secure, and under your control.

1. Introduction & Privacy Philosophy

At AMAL POS, we believe your business numbers, retail prices, margins, and customer relationships belong strictly to you. We engineered AMAL POS with an offline-first, privacy-by-design architecture.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how device permissions are utilized, and how we safeguard your data when you use the AMAL POS mobile application and our website. By using AMAL POS, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy.

2. Information We Collect & Don't Collect

Your Inventory & Sales Data Stays on Your Device

Your product catalog, barcodes, stock levels, sales tickets, and revenue totals are saved directly into your device’s local SQLite database. We do not transmit or sell your commercial transaction logs to third parties.

Optional Account & Sync Information

If you activate cloud synchronization or backup services, we store your authenticated email address, encrypted database snapshots, and account preferences securely on our protected cloud servers.

Anonymous Crash & Diagnostic Telemetry

We may collect anonymized diagnostic metadata (such as crash logs, app version, device OS version, and non-identifying aggregate performance statistics) to eliminate bugs and optimize scanner framerates.

3. Device Permissions & Why We Need Them

AMAL POS requests device permissions strictly to deliver core point-of-sale functionality:

Camera

Required solely for scanning UPC/EAN barcodes and QR codes during item lookup and instant checkout. No video or photos are saved to external servers.

Bluetooth & Local Network

Used to connect wirelessly to thermal ESC/POS receipt printers (58mm/80mm) and compatible hardware barcode scanners.

Local Storage / Files

Required to export and import CSV product catalogs, generate digital PDF receipts, and write encrypted offline backup files.

Notifications (Optional)

Optional reminders for low-stock inventory alerts and important version updates.

4. How We Use Information

  • To deliver uninterrupted point-of-sale and barcode scanning features
  • To process optional cloud backup and multi-device synchronization
  • To deliver responsive merchant support and troubleshoot app issues
  • To process in-app subscription licenses via Apple App Store & Google Play
  • To monitor performance, app stability, and crash diagnostics
  • To protect against fraudulent software tampering and security threats

5. Data Storage, Security & Retention

Your local business data is isolated inside your operating system’s sandboxed app directory. If you enable encrypted cloud backup, your database archives are transmitted via TLS 1.3 encryption and stored in SOC 2-compliant data centers with AES-256 encryption at rest.

We retain account-level data (such as login email or subscription status) only as long as your account remains active. You can delete your cloud backup data or request complete account erasure at any time directly through in-app settings or by contacting our team.

6. Third-Party Services & Processors

We partner exclusively with trusted industry providers for infrastructure and payment handling:

  • Apple App Store & Google Play Store: Manage in-app purchases and digital licensing. We never access your credit card numbers.
  • Vercel Analytics: Collects aggregated web analytics on amalpos.com (privacy-friendly, no cookie trackers).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Secure, encrypted cloud databases for merchants opting into cloud sync.

7. Your Global Data Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Regardless of your country or jurisdiction, we honor the following privacy rights:

Right to Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Right to Erasure: Request permanent deletion of your cloud account and backups.
Right to Data Portability: Export your complete inventory catalog via CSV at any time.
Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or outdated account information.
Right to Opt-Out: Disable analytics or crash reporting telemetry within app preferences.
Non-Discrimination: We never degrade your POS service for exercising your privacy rights.
