How to Connect a Bluetooth Thermal Receipt Printer to AMAL POS
A comprehensive, 5-minute setup guide to pairing standard 58mm and 80mm ESC/POS wireless printers with your mobile checkout register.
Hardware Requirements
Any generic ESC/POS Bluetooth thermal printer (58mm or 80mm) + iOS or Android smartphone.
Power On & Enable Bluetooth on Printer
Turn on your 58mm or 80mm ESC/POS thermal printer and verify the power indicator light is solid blue or green. Ensure the thermal paper roll is facing the correct direction.
Pair Printer in Device Bluetooth Settings
On your iPhone or Android device, open Settings > Bluetooth. Select your thermal printer from the Available Devices list (commonly labeled 'MTP-II', 'POS-58', or 'Bluetooth Printer'). If prompted for a pairing PIN, enter standard default '0000' or '1234'.
Open AMAL POS Settings & Select Printer
Open the AMAL POS app on your device, tap Settings > Hardware & Printers, and tap 'Scan for Bluetooth Printers'. Select your paired printer from the list.
Choose Paper Width (58mm or 80mm) & Test Print
Select your paper roll width (standard compact 58mm or wide 80mm). Tap 'Print Test Slip' to confirm alignment, header formatting, and automated cutting.
Printer not showing in search? Ensure the printer is not actively connected to another phone or tablet. Bluetooth can only maintain one active data link at a time.
Garbled or strange characters printing? Check that your paper width setting in AMAL POS matches your roll size (58mm vs 80mm) and ensure your printer supports the ESC/POS standard command set.
Paper feeding blank? Thermal paper is heat-sensitive on only one side. Remove the roll and flip it so the coated side faces the thermal printhead.
